These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your participation in the Winter Reading Retreat 2027 (the “Retreat”) hosted and organized by North Star Wayfarer (“North Star Wayfarer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By registering for the Retreat, submitting payment, or otherwise confirming your participation, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms, together with the Retreat's Code of Conduct.

1. The Retreat

The Winter Reading Retreat 2027 is a women-only retreat for guests age 21 and older taking place January 22–24, 2027, in New Buffalo, Michigan.

The Retreat is designed to provide time to read, rest, reconnect, and enjoy a slower weekend with other readers. The experience may include reading and social time, meals, a private chef dinner, a restaurant dinner, optional yoga, optional crafts, use of the onsite sauna and gym, and an optional outing to a local bookstore.

The Retreat's landing page describes the current accommodations, room types, pricing, itinerary, inclusions, exclusions, and other details. That information is incorporated into the Retreat offering as applicable, but the itinerary and individual activities are subject to change as described in these Terms.

2. Eligibility

The Retreat is intended for women age 21 and older.

You represent that:

• you are at least 21 years old;

• the information you provide to North Star Wayfarer is accurate and complete;

• you are legally able to enter into this agreement; and

• you will comply with these Terms and the Retreat Code of Conduct.

North Star Wayfarer reserves the right to request reasonable information necessary to administer the Retreat, including information concerning dietary needs, accessibility needs, emergency contacts, or other information reasonably necessary for the safety and operation of the Retreat.

3. What Is Included

Your Retreat package currently includes:

• two nights of accommodations at Petit Acres in New Buffalo, Michigan;

• the room type and occupancy selected at booking;

• meals from Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast;

• use of the onsite sauna and gym;

• craft materials;

• a welcome gift; and

• reading, social, and other retreat programming described on the Retreat landing page.

The Retreat landing page should be reviewed for the current room descriptions, pricing, and itinerary.

4. What Is Not Included

Unless expressly stated otherwise, your Retreat package does not include:

• transportation to or from New Buffalo;

• flights, train tickets, rental cars, rideshare, or other transportation;

• travel insurance;

• personal purchases;

• books;

• expenses associated with optional activities that are not included in the Retreat package; or

• other expenses not expressly identified as included.

Guests are responsible for arranging and paying for their own transportation to and from the Retreat.

5. Accommodations and Room Assignments

The Retreat includes lodging at Petit Acres in New Buffalo, Michigan. The accommodations consist of two small homes with shared living spaces and shared amenities. The property also includes common areas and onsite parking.

Room types vary and may include private and shared accommodations with private or shared bathrooms, as described on the Retreat landing page.

If you select shared accommodations:

• you understand that you may share a bedroom and/or bathroom with other Retreat guests;

• you agree to be considerate of roommates and shared spaces;

• you understand that North Star Wayfarer cannot guarantee that a roommate's habits, personality, sleep schedule, or preferences will match your own; and

• you agree to follow reasonable requests concerning quiet hours, cleanliness, personal space, and shared use of the accommodations.

North Star Wayfarer may assign roommates where a guest purchases an accommodation that requires shared occupancy. Requests for particular roommates will be accommodated when reasonably possible but are not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in writing.

Guests are responsible for treating the property, furnishings, equipment, and shared spaces with care. A guest may be responsible for damage caused by that guest beyond ordinary wear and tear.

6. Payment Terms

A $500 deposit is required to reserve your place at the Retreat.

The remaining balance is due December 14, 2026.

Unless otherwise expressly agreed to by North Star Wayfarer in writing, all amounts paid toward the Retreat are nonrefundable.

Failure to make the remaining balance payment by the stated deadline may result in cancellation of your reservation and forfeiture of amounts already paid. North Star Wayfarer may, in its discretion, offer an alternative payment arrangement before the deadline.

7. Cancellation by a Guest

The Retreat is nonrefundable.

If you decide not to attend for any reason—including illness, injury, change of plans, transportation problems, weather affecting your personal travel, work obligations, family circumstances, or simply changing your mind—you will not be entitled to a refund from North Star Wayfarer, except where a refund is required by applicable law or expressly provided by North Star Wayfarer in writing.

This applies to both the $500 deposit and any remaining balance paid toward the Retreat.

If you cannot attend, you should contact North Star Wayfarer as soon as possible. Any transfer of a reservation to another person is subject to North Star Wayfarer's prior written approval and any applicable requirements. A transfer is not guaranteed.

8. Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not included in the Retreat price and is not required.

However, North Star Wayfarer strongly recommends purchasing appropriate travel insurance because the Retreat is nonrefundable and guests are responsible for their own transportation and other travel arrangements.

Depending on your circumstances and the terms of the policy, travel insurance may provide coverage for certain cancellations, interruptions, delays, medical situations, lost belongings, or other covered events. No insurance policy guarantees reimbursement for every circumstance.

If you are concerned that you may need to cancel, you should review the policy's cancellation provisions carefully and consider whether Cancel For Any Reason (“CFAR”) coverage, where available and appropriate, is worthwhile for you.

You are responsible for determining whether any insurance policy provides the coverage you need, understanding its exclusions and deadlines, and purchasing coverage in time to qualify for any desired benefits.

9. Changes to the Itinerary

The Retreat itinerary is subject to change.

North Star Wayfarer may modify the timing, location, order, format, or availability of activities, meals, outings, or other elements of the Retreat when reasonably necessary or appropriate, including because of weather, vendor availability, operational issues, safety concerns, illness, or other circumstances.

North Star Wayfarer will make reasonable efforts to preserve the overall character and intended experience of the Retreat.

Optional activities are particularly subject to change and may be canceled or modified without creating a right to a refund when the activity is included as part of the overall Retreat experience rather than purchased separately.

10. Third-Party Providers

Certain portions of the Retreat are provided by independent third parties, including lodging, food providers, restaurants, yoga instructor, and other vendors or service providers.

North Star Wayfarer does not own or control these independent providers.

Third-party providers are responsible for the services they directly provide, subject to their own terms, policies, procedures, and legal obligations.

North Star Wayfarer will make reasonable efforts to coordinate the Retreat and address problems that arise, but cannot guarantee the availability, quality, safety, timing, or performance of services controlled by independent third parties.

If a third-party provider becomes unavailable or cannot provide a scheduled service, North Star Wayfarer may substitute, modify, reschedule, or remove that service when reasonably necessary.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive rights or remedies that you may have against a third-party provider under applicable law.

11. Transportation

Guests are responsible for arranging and paying for their own transportation to and from New Buffalo, Michigan.

North Star Wayfarer does not provide or supervise transportation to or from the Retreat unless expressly stated otherwise.

Guests are responsible for allowing sufficient time for travel and for making their own decisions concerning driving, train travel, flights, rideshare, rental cars, weather conditions, and other transportation arrangements.

North Star Wayfarer is not responsible for losses resulting from a guest's transportation arrangements, including missed portions of the Retreat, delayed arrival, early departure, or inability to travel.

12. Optional Activities and Personal Responsibility

Some Retreat activities are optional. These may include yoga, crafts, the bookstore outing, use of the sauna or gym, and other activities designated as optional.

You are never required to participate in an optional activity.

You are responsible for deciding whether an activity is appropriate for you based on your own physical condition, health, experience, comfort level, and circumstances.

If you choose to participate, you agree to follow reasonable safety instructions provided by North Star Wayfarer, the property, or the applicable activity provider.

13. Yoga, Gym, Sauna, and Physical Activities

The Retreat may include access to yoga, a gym, sauna, walking, crafts, and other activities involving physical activity or environmental conditions that may carry inherent risks.

Participation is voluntary.

You should consider your own physical condition, limitations, medical conditions, medications, injuries, pregnancy status, and other circumstances when deciding whether to participate in any activity or use any amenity.

North Star Wayfarer does not provide medical advice, medical treatment, fitness instruction, or individualized medical clearance.

You are responsible for determining whether you are physically capable of participating safely and for stopping participation if you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, overheating, discomfort, or other concerning symptoms.

You should consult an appropriate healthcare professional before participating if you have questions about whether an activity or amenity is appropriate for you.

14. Food, Allergies, and Dietary Restrictions

North Star Wayfarer will make reasonable efforts to communicate dietary restrictions and requests to applicable food providers when guests provide that information in advance.

The Retreat landing page states that guests should identify specific dietary needs when booking and that North Star Wayfarer will do its best to accommodate them.

However, North Star Wayfarer cannot guarantee that every dietary restriction, preference, allergy, or cross-contact concern can be accommodated.

Guests with food allergies or other medically significant dietary restrictions are responsible for communicating those restrictions clearly and promptly and for making their own informed decisions about whether to consume particular foods.

If you have a severe or potentially life-threatening food allergy, you should take appropriate precautions, including carrying any medication or emergency treatment prescribed to you.

Food is prepared and/or provided by third-party providers, including the private chef and restaurant. North Star Wayfarer does not control their kitchens, ingredients, preparation methods, or cross-contact procedures.

15. Alcohol

Alcohol may be available at Retreat dinners.

Guests who choose to consume alcohol are expected to do so responsibly and in accordance with the Code of Conduct.

You are responsible for your own alcohol consumption and for making safe decisions concerning transportation and participation in Retreat activities.

Excessive intoxication, disruptive behavior, unsafe conduct, or behavior that negatively affects other guests may constitute a violation of the Code of Conduct and may result in removal from the Retreat.

North Star Wayfarer does not provide transportation for guests who consume alcohol unless expressly stated otherwise.

16. Health, Illness, Injury, and Emergencies

Guests participate in the Retreat at their own discretion and are responsible for monitoring their own health and well-being.

You should not attend or participate in activities if you are experiencing symptoms or circumstances that would make participation unsafe for you or others.

If an emergency occurs, North Star Wayfarer may contact emergency medical services or other appropriate assistance when reasonably necessary.

You authorize North Star Wayfarer, to the extent reasonably necessary in an emergency, to provide information you have voluntarily supplied concerning an emergency contact or relevant health/safety information to emergency personnel or other persons assisting with the emergency.

North Star Wayfarer is not a medical provider and does not undertake to provide medical care, diagnosis, treatment, or monitoring.

17. Code of Conduct

The Retreat Code of Conduct is incorporated into these Terms.

The Code of Conduct establishes expectations concerning kindness, respect, inclusion, personal boundaries, quiet time, participation, alcohol consumption, treatment of the property, and maintaining a welcoming environment.

Guests are expected to read and comply with the Code of Conduct throughout the Retreat.

North Star Wayfarer may address conduct concerns in its reasonable discretion. Depending on the circumstances, consequences may include a request to stop the behavior, a warning, mediation or discussion, restriction from a particular activity, or removal from the Retreat.

Nothing in the Code of Conduct or these Terms requires North Star Wayfarer to tolerate behavior that creates a safety concern or materially interferes with another guest's ability to participate in the Retreat.

18. Removal From the Retreat

North Star Wayfarer may require a guest to leave the Retreat if, in its reasonable judgment, the guest:

• engages in harassment, discrimination, bullying, threatening behavior, violence, or other serious misconduct;

• repeatedly violates the Code of Conduct;

• engages in unsafe or significantly disruptive behavior;

• becomes excessively intoxicated;

• intentionally or recklessly damages property;

• creates a significant safety concern for themselves or another person; or

• otherwise materially interferes with the Retreat or the rights, safety, or reasonable enjoyment of other guests.

If a guest is removed from the Retreat because of misconduct or a violation of these Terms or the Code of Conduct, the guest will generally not be entitled to a refund and will be responsible for arranging and paying for any transportation, lodging, or other expenses resulting from the early departure.

North Star Wayfarer will exercise reasonable judgment in responding to conduct concerns and does not intend this provision to replace ordinary communication or conflict resolution where those approaches are appropriate.

19. Property Damage and Personal Belongings

Guests are responsible for their own personal belongings.

North Star Wayfarer is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property, except to the extent responsibility cannot lawfully be disclaimed.

Guests are responsible for damage they cause to the Retreat property beyond ordinary wear and tear, subject to applicable law and any applicable property policies.

20. Assumption of Risk and Release

The Retreat involves ordinary travel, lodging, group activities, food and beverage consumption, physical activities, use of recreational amenities, and other activities that may involve risks, including but not limited to falls, strains, burns, illness, allergic reactions, food-related illness, accidents, property damage, and other injuries or losses.

By participating in the Retreat, you acknowledge that you have been informed of these general risks and voluntarily choose to participate.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you assume responsibility for risks that are inherent in or reasonably foreseeable from your voluntary participation in Retreat activities.

You further agree to release North Star Wayfarer and its owner, organizers, employees, contractors, and agents from claims arising from risks that you knowingly and voluntarily assume, to the extent such a release is permitted and enforceable under applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to release liability that cannot legally be released, including liability to the extent arising from conduct for which a release is prohibited by applicable law.

21. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, North Star Wayfarer will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from participation in the Retreat.

North Star Wayfarer's responsibility for losses arising from circumstances within its control shall be limited to the remedies required by applicable law and, where legally permissible, to the amount paid by the guest for the Retreat.

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

North Star Wayfarer is not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control, including circumstances involving independent third-party providers, transportation providers, weather, natural disasters, government action, civil unrest, illness outbreaks, utility failures, or other extraordinary events.

22. Events Beyond Our Control

North Star Wayfarer may modify, postpone, relocate, or cancel all or part of the Retreat when circumstances outside its reasonable control make doing so necessary or advisable.

Examples may include severe weather, natural disaster, fire, utility interruption, public-health emergency, widespread illness, government action, road or transportation disruptions, civil unrest, or a serious safety concern.

If North Star Wayfarer cancels the Retreat before it begins, North Star Wayfarer will communicate the cancellation and the applicable refund or alternative arrangement to guests.

Unless otherwise required by law or expressly stated by North Star Wayfarer, North Star Wayfarer will not be responsible for guests' independent transportation costs, airfare, lodging, lost wages, or other expenses arising from a cancellation, postponement, relocation, or other change.

23. Accessibility and Accommodation Requests

Guests are encouraged to communicate accessibility needs or reasonable accommodation requests as early as possible and preferably before booking.

North Star Wayfarer will make reasonable efforts to work with the guest and applicable third-party providers to identify available accommodations.

Because the Retreat takes place at a particular private property and involves independent vendors, North Star Wayfarer cannot guarantee that every requested accommodation will be available.

A guest should not assume that a particular accessibility feature or accommodation exists unless North Star Wayfarer has confirmed it in writing.

24. Photography, Video, and Guest Images

North Star Wayfarer may take photographs or video during the Retreat for its own documentation and promotional purposes.

Guests should respect other guests' preferences concerning photography and should not photograph, record, or post identifiable images of another guest in a manner that disregards that guest's expressed wishes.

This is consistent with the Code of Conduct's direction to respect personal boundaries, including boundaries concerning photos.

25. Guest Information and Privacy

North Star Wayfarer may collect and use information reasonably necessary to administer the Retreat, including contact information, room preferences, dietary information, accessibility requests, emergency contact information, and payment-related information.

Information may be shared with applicable third-party providers when reasonably necessary to arrange or administer services for the Retreat.

North Star Wayfarer will not intentionally use guest information for purposes unrelated to the Retreat except as otherwise permitted by applicable law or with the guest's consent.

Guests should avoid providing unnecessary sensitive personal information.

26. Third-Party Terms

Guests may also be subject to the terms, policies, and rules of Petit Acres, restaurants, the yoga instructor, transportation providers, and other third-party providers.

Guests agree to comply with reasonable rules communicated by those providers while participating in the Retreat.

Nothing in these Terms makes a third-party provider a party to this Agreement unless expressly stated otherwise.

27. No Medical, Fitness, or Therapeutic Services

The Retreat is intended as a recreational and social experience.

North Star Wayfarer does not provide medical, psychological, therapeutic, fitness, or wellness treatment.

Descriptions of reading, yoga, sauna use, relaxation, restoration, or self-care are descriptive of the Retreat experience and are not representations that the Retreat will produce any particular physical, mental, emotional, or health outcome.

28. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to reimburse and hold harmless North Star Wayfarer from third-party claims, losses, damages, or reasonable expenses to the extent directly caused by your intentional misconduct, grossly negligent conduct, or violation of these Terms or the Code of Conduct.

This provision is not intended to require you to indemnify North Star Wayfarer for North Star Wayfarer's own conduct to the extent such indemnification is prohibited by applicable law.

29. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms involve a retreat operated by an Illinois-based business but performed substantially in Michigan.

The parties intend that disputes relating to these Terms be governed by applicable law, but the appropriate choice of law and venue should be determined with advice from qualified counsel.

30. Claims and Dispute Resolution

Before filing a legal claim, the parties agree to make a good-faith effort to communicate with one another regarding the dispute and attempt to resolve it informally.

Any legal claim must be brought within the period permitted by applicable law.

31. Class Actions

North Star Wayfarer may wish to include a provision requiring claims to be brought individually rather than as part of a class or representative action. Whether and how such a provision should be used should be determined by qualified counsel based on applicable law and the nature of this consumer transaction.

32. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.

33. No Waiver

A failure by North Star Wayfarer to enforce any provision of these Terms on one occasion does not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce that provision in the future.

34. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Retreat booking information, the Retreat landing page as applicable, the Code of Conduct, and any written terms expressly incorporated into the Retreat booking, constitute the agreement between the guest and North Star Wayfarer concerning participation in the Retreat.

If there is a conflict between these Terms and promotional or informational material, these Terms will control to the extent of the conflict, except where a specific written amendment or booking term expressly states otherwise.

35. Amendments

North Star Wayfarer may make reasonable administrative updates or corrections to these Terms before the Retreat.

No amendment will be intended to materially change a guest's financial obligations after booking without appropriate notice.

36. Acceptance

By booking the Winter Reading Retreat 2027, paying the required deposit, or otherwise confirming your participation, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms and the Retreat Code of Conduct.

You understand that the Retreat is nonrefundable, that travel insurance is not included or required, and that you are responsible for arranging your own transportation to and from New Buffalo.
